No, you don’t need to opt in to open banking.
All major UK and European banks are required to provide open banking services to their customers, and as long as you have online banking set up, then you should be able to use apps and services such as Yaspa.
(Please note that the adoption of open banking was mandated by the EU under its Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) in 2018 but it has not yet been fully or consistently implemented yet. Additionally, open banking has not yet been rolled out by banks in the Channel Islands, for example. If you find your bank is not listed and you’re unable to pay with Yaspa, please let us know, and we’ll see if we can help from this end.)
